Max Centennial Summary 1906-2006

As the whole world knows, on June 29 - July 3 of 2006 Max Celebrated it's Centennial. It was a great event and would have made the original settlers proud!   Max had company that weekend! For those of you who may have missed it here are some of the memorable highlights...

For starters, there were 98 golfers that took part in the Golf Tournament,  there were 85 walkers/runners in the Alumni Fun Walk/Run.

At each of the evening meals over 500 were served, and over 300 viewed the Schmidt Museum. There were 561 attending the Max Alumni buffet held in the school gymnasium Friday evening. Advanced registrations numbered 264. There are still alumni books for sale and available at the Max Public Library. The Cossack Cuisine served by different churches in the Civic Cener was a 'very positive thing' with 5 booths and serving 100 to 300 people. And the parade - of the 120 entries, there were 33 classic cars and 14 classic tractors.

There are plenty of Max History books still available and you may pick them up at the Max Public Library, open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and at the Schmidt Museum. You may request them by mail by sending $25 plus $5 postage each if you want them mailed out, to Max Centennial, P.O.Box #233, Max, N. Dak. 58759-0233. There are plenty of Max Public Library Centennial recipe books available too. You may also buy them at the Max Public Library or by mail. They cost $15 each plus the cost of shipping for one or two of $2.50. You may order both through the same address and your check may be made out to the Max Centennial. In Garrison you may pick up a recipe book at This That N More and at the Sakakawea Gift Gallery.
