Max Community Library

Preschool Story Hour

Preschool Story Hour is a fun activity for children of pre-kindergarten age provided by the Max Community Library.  It is held once a month from September to May at the Max Library, located in the Max Civic Center on Main Street in Max.  During Story Hour, children have a story read to them, participate in a craft activity, eat lunch, and simply have time to interact with other kids of their age.  At various times, other age-appropriate activities are also added.  All area children in the designated age group are welcome to participate.

For the 2011-12 season, Story Hour will be held at 11:15 am on the third Thursday of each month.  If this interferes with a holiday or other community event, the date may be changed to better fit the needs of the community.  If you have any questions about Story Hour dates, please call the library at 679-2263, check the community calendar that is mailed out each month, or check the online calendar at maxnd.com.

If you would like to receive an email notification about story hour in the week before the event, please email the library at maxlib@rtc.coop and say, “Please put me on the Story Hour email list.”

Story Hour is sponsored by the Max Community Library and is not affiliated with the Max School, though the library tries to schedule the events around the Preschool schedule at Max School so as many children as possible can attend Story Hour.  Neither the school nor the library is able to provide childcare or transportation to the event, so it does fall upon parents and caregivers to bring their children and to either attend with them or make sure they have adult assistance and supervision.  In addition, children are encouraged to pack a lunch and eat with the group.  The library will provide a beverage each month, and will on special occasions provide an additional treat.  Parents and caregivers are also welcome to send a treat to share with the group along with their child, if they have a special occasion or just want to provide a fun snack or dessert.  If you wish to do this, please notify Amy at the library (679-2263) ahead of time so that we don’t accidentally end up with an over-abundance of treats at one time.  (Please note that we do have children in our group with peanut and tree nut allergies, so we ask that you avoid sending share treats with these ingredients in them.)

Max Library is happy and eager to continue to provide Story Hour for local preschoolers.  It is a great way to encourage your preschooler(s) to get interested in books and reading, and to get to know other area kids.  We sincerely thank you for your past participation, and hope to see your children at upcoming and future Story Hours.
