Max News 2-9-04 A former Max resident and dear friend, Sam Devnich, passed away Friday morning. Sam’s wife, Esther, passed away this past spring. They farmed east of Max and for a while lived in the former Seventh Day Adventist Parsonage in Max. They had moved to Ooltewah, Tennessee, to be near their daughter Marge, her husband Paul, and their two grandchildren, Brent and Brenda. Sam was 92 years young. Marge’s address is: Marge (Paul) Seifert; 7362 Lazy Brook Court; Ooltewah, TN 37363. Her phone number is (423) 238-7793. April Volochenko of Bismarck visited her Grandmother Elaine Kohler on Sunday. She is the daughter of Lena and Tom Volochenko of Butte. John and Darla Kohler and their girls, Katie and Jackie, helped to shovel and blow paths for Grandma Elaine too. Raymond Iverson Jr. visited with Dan Flath and Linda Feldner at their home in Minot on Thursday, February 5th. Dan Flath and Wayne and Linda Feldner have not moved, but the City of Minot has given them a new address. Their new address is: 620 – 34th. Avenue S.W.; Minot, North Dakota 58701. Phyllis and Hilbert Narum were home from Arizona for awhile and spent Friday visiting with Lorna and Lila at Lila’s home. There is going to be a Helping Hands Community Potluck with a free will offering, for the family of Garrett Schwan. Baby Garrett passed away recently. This potluck will be held on Sunday, February 22nd., from 11 to 1 at the Max Civic Center. All the proceeds will go to his family, with McLean County Thrivent Financial for Lutherans subsidizing them. Please make any checks payable to: Mclean Co. Ch. Thrivent Finc. Luth. Thrivent Finc. Luth., also. Max High School held their Homecoming this past Saturday evening. The 2003-2004 Queen and King crowned were Amber Heer and Nathan Dokken . Princess and Prince were Jessica Schultz and Jesse Ahmann. The first Queen and King coronation held was for the school year of 1959 and 1960. Luana Krebsbach (Ley) and Ed Schnaible were crowned then! The pop can stands steady despite the daily winds that block the roads and streets. Tickets are on sale now and there are also tickets available for you to sell! Remember, you get three guesses as to the date and time the pop can will fall through the ice, for only $5. There was a surprise birthday party for Marlo Zaderaka in Minot on Monday evening. Several of the 18 who attended lived in Max many years ago.
