There was a write-up about Grant Semchenko in last week’s McLean County Independent Newspaper. I did visit a bit with Grant and can only add this small bit. He is very glad to be home and will be returning to college in the fall. Stu Merry had a great write-up about Grant’s experiences overseas. If you didn’t read it, please do so. Grant graduated from Max High School.

Lonn and Jenny Iverson were married April 17th. Many from the Max area attended the wedding. Grandma Berniece Iverson was there from Fargo; and Grandma and Grandpa Twila and Elmo Kittleson from Benedict were also there. Wayne Kabanuck of Max wrote and sang two very special songs for the couple. Lonn works for Eidi Ford in Bismarck and Jenny is in the Medical Records Department of the Women’s Clinic in Bismarck, where they both reside. Congratulations to Lonn and Jenny.

Elaine Kohler returned home April 15th. from having knee replacement surgery in Minot. Her daughter, JoAnn and husband James Riley and their sons came from Mississippi to be here for Easter and to help out. John and Darla’s girls Katie and Jackie; and Tom and Laurie’s girls, Cami and Charli, spent two days cleaning Grandma Elaine’s yard. Grandma says, “Thank you girls!“

Elaine was hardly alone, with the girls and/or granddaughters staying overnight with her the first few days when she was home. James put up a railing on her steps into her west door, while the girls cleaned inside the house for their Mother.

All of the family spent time at the hospital with their Mother too. Marion took her Mother to Minot today for groceries and medicine. The doctor said it was a long surgery but despite it all, Elaine says she is doing okay and is quite comfortable. Elaine thanks her family for all they do for her and says, “Aren’t families wonderful.”

Quite a large group of ladies gathered today at the Centennial Café in Max to help Marian Schmidt celebrate her birthday. Her Mother Vi and sister Sharlene both came from Garrison and her sister Carolyn came from Bismarck.
