Gary Hatlestad is in the hospital. He went into the Roseau, MN hospital on June 13 and then to the Thief River Falls, MN hospital where he was in I.C.U. until about the 22 nd of June. He is in a regular room now. Heidi was there as well as Jory, Robert and Faye were there a couple of days again too. He is doing better now and was hoping to go home this past weekend. We are so thankful that Lorna Sambor is once again home after being in I.C.U. in Trinity in Minot. We are saddened to hear of Carmen Fedorenko’s illness. There will be a Helping Hands Community Potluck on Sunday, July 11 from 11:30 – 1:00 at the City Hall. There will be a free will offering, with the proceeds going to help Carmen with her medical expenses. Please make any checks payable to McLean County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, using the following abbreviated form: McLean Co. Ch. Thrivent Finc. Luth. Those wishing to give cash donations may do so with a money order made out to the above abbreviated name, or call Merlyn Iverson at 679-2229. A lot of big anniversary celebrations going on in Max! Robert and Torres Olson celebrated their 60 th anniversary and would like to thank everybody for their support. Everything was beautiful and wonderful. Our Savior’s Lutheran Praise Band performed and the celebration was a very good success. Edwin and Dellora Schmidt just celebrated their 50 th anniversary with a celebration at the City Hall. Remember to take in today’s Library event and eat the ‘interesting’ snack! Today’s theme is “Animals They Met Along the Way”. Next Thursday, July 8, the Library will be having some Take Home Activities. July 8 is also the last day to remove flowers from the Max Baptist Cemetery. And July 8 at 7 P.M. at the City Hall, there will be a Methamphetamine Public Awareness Meeting. This is being hosted by the Max Park Board in conjunction with the Minot State University Rural Crime and Justice Center. The public is encouraged to attend! The next big event in Max is fast approaching! Pasta Days will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2004. All plans are tentative with a Flea and Farmers Market held on Main Street; A free pasta feed; Rock Climbing Walls; Moon Walk Balloon; Car Show; City-wide rummage sales; Library Ice-cream Social; seat driving contest with lawn mowers; and a Karate demonstration. For information on the Flea and Farmers Market on Main Street, contact Karla Erickson at 679-2536. It is undecided about having the City-wide rummage sales both Friday and Saturday so for more information on that, call Joann McElwain at 679-2751.This is also the week-end of the Roughriders’ Rodeo, celebrating their 25 th year!
