Today, Thursday the 29 th, the Max Library will be having its last indoor program. The theme today is about “Going Home”. Next Thursday, August 5 th, is the Summer Reading Picnic at the Max Community Park. This starts at 11:30 A.M. There will be lunch, games, and prizes.

Just a few days after the Library Picnic, Max’s Annual Pasta days will be held. Friday and Saturday, August 6 th., and 7 th. Rummage sales throughout the city and nearby farms will be held starting Friday afternoon and running until noon on Saturday, or later. Please contact Joann McElwain at 679-2751 by August 2 nd. to get your rummage sale listed on the map. The very small fee for this also helps with the advertising that Joann does, so it is only fair that all rummage sale participants notify Joann of their sale.

Another Centennial Planning meeting will be held at 7:30 on Thursday, August 12 th. Please remind relatives and friends to attend. Committees, please come with information.

Remember to get your recipes and hints to the Max Library for their Centennial Cookbook. As of now they do not have enough for even a booklet!

Visiting recently at the home of Eddie and Idamae Hauf were their daughter, Brenda Reister of Waconia, MN., Ed’s sister, Darlene Lorenz of Hooksett, NH., and Steve and Tami Hauf and family of Sabin, MN.

Recent visitors at the Lorna Sambor home were John and Darla Kohler, Ivadell and Orlin Lawson of Washburn, her neice Paulette and Steve Schmaltz of California; her niece Kathy Krebsbach and Syneva Arithson of Bowman, N. Dak.

Eddie and Idamae Hauf joined many others on Thursday, July 22 nd. for the Friends and Neighbors Day held at the Northern Great Plains Research Laboratory at Mandan, N.D. This occasion marked the 90 th year of the Research Farm which was established in 1914.

Last week Margaret Scurlock and Lila Fannik attended the funeral of their friend Eva Jorgenson of Williston.

Margaret and Lila visited later that day with their cousin, Margaurite Grindberg of Williston.

On their way home, they stopped in Stanley at the store called “Tea Leaves and Sagebrush” antiques and collectables. The owner of this business is Nelma Werlinger, formerly of Max, so they had a nice visit. They enjoyed the many antiques at the store.

Week-end guests at Lila Fannik’s home were her niece Kathy Meronuck Krebsbach and friend Syneva Arithson of Bowman.

A number of children attended the Good News Club in the Max Park all last week. Teachers were Kadie Bolmen of Mlps, MN., and Cody Meir of Tioga.
