Pasta Day Week-end is here! Friday some of the city-wide rummage sales start at 4:00. These will be open again on Saturday from 8 A.M. until noon or as late as the individual wants.

Saturday is a full day with the Rodeo Slack being held at 8:00 A.M. This year’s rodeo is their 25 th anniversary with the Past Presidents being acknowledged at the 2:00 Sunday rodeo performance. Saturday’s performance will be at 5:00 P.M.

After each performance there will be Mutton Busting and Miniature Pony Riding. Again there are Junior and Senior divisions along with Old Timer Roping for those 55 years and over!

A gift certificate to the Stoney End Restaurant will be presented to the largest immediate family registered and present, at Saturday’s 5:00 performance. A gift certificate to the Lake Road Restaurant will be presented to the Grandparents with the most grandchildren present at the 2:00 Sunday performance.

They are expecting 400-500 contestants; the Cook Shack will be open; and tickets are $7.00 for adults; $4.00 for students; with children 5 years and under free. Contact Surgay Kalamaha, Committee Representative, at 722-3918 for more information.

The Open Car Show – also anything on wheels – will be held on Main Street. The Flea and Farmers Market will also be open on Main Street. Schmidt’s Museum will be open during this time too.

Flowers may be brought to the Senior Citizens’ Center starting at 11:00 A.M. The Library Board will also be having a bake sale and ice cream social there. Donations of baked goods are needed.

The Karate Demonstration is at 1:30, followed by Seat Driving at 2:00. The childrens’ Bouncing House will open up then too. St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church is serving lunch at their church, along with having a silent auction on quilts. They are also having a bake sale, and a rummage sale.

At 4:00 they will start serving the free pasta meal.

Throughout the day the 50-50 tickets will be available at a cost of $1.00 per ticket. At each monthly Civic Club meeting, all tickets and proceeds are turned in and totaled. The ticket winner drawn gets 50% of the total cash proceeds taken in during the previous month.

The second swimming session will be held August 9-13. Please be at the school no later than 12:15 on Monday, August 9. The bus will be returning around 3:15 each day. Cost for the lessons is $28.00 per child or $14.00 per child if you are a member of the Max Civic Club. A check made out to the YMCA needs to be sent with your child ON MONDAY or mail it in advance to Lynae Schroeder, P.O. Box 55, Max. If you can chaperone please let Lynae know at 679-2505, as we do need 2 adults or teenagers on the bus each day.

Max Civic Club meeting will be held this coming Monday evening, August 9 th, at 7:00.

The Senior Citizens’ meeting is at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, August 13 th. Maybe you would like to join.

LaDonna Hupsky of Georgia and Janice Peterson of Makoti, along with Lila Fannik went to Bismarck on Saturday to take their condolences to Curtis Blohm and family for the loss of Maryanne. While in Bismarck, they also visited with Beulah Witham, an aunt to Janice and LaDonna. Beulah’s daughter and granddaughter were there visiting, too.

Margaret Scurlock and Lila Fannik enjoyed the Douglas Annual potluck picnic dinner on Sunday. They enjoyed the entertainment and visiting with everyone, many of whom were from out of state. Approximately 100 attended.
