There were over 30 in attendance at the last Centennial Planning Meeting. The next meeting will be at 7:30 the 20 th of September, at the Civic Center. Following meetings are set up for October 18 th and November 15 th at the same time and at the same location. Keep these dates in mind and have your committee meetings well in advance of these dates so you can report on the progress your committee is making. If you are short of time, but need to eat, Wayne Kabanuck said you can have your meeting in the Maverick Room at his café, while you eat your meal. You will have privacy there.

All of the committees were listed and discussed but these committees need to meet to choose a chairman and get started on their duties. You may still be on a committee if you aren’t on the list! Just notify Edwin Schmidt. This would be a wonderful time for the new people in Max to get involved and acquainted. Let’s put out a personal invitation to our new community members to come to the next meeting!

There will be a joint Thanksgiving service in Max with hopes that the free-will offering can go towards the Centennial. Another source of income for the Centennial Planning Committee to work with is with anyone wanting to buy advertising to put into the history book. This advertising can be for your business, even though it isn’t located in Max.

There was mention that individual churches or other groups could have something to sell or raffle off at the Centennial. The Catholic Church ladies will be making a quilt with pictures of Max on it that they will raffle off.

Don’t forget to get your family and business histories written up and turned in for the history book. Again, the Library still needs recipes and ‘hints’ to put in their Centennial recipe book.

The Promotion Committee has already made contacts towards purchasing several styles of shirts with the Centennial logo on, and purchasing a blanket with the logo and pictures of Max on. We have a booth at the English Market in Garrison during Dickens Festival where we will be selling these items. Just in time for Christmas gifts! They will also be available at the various business places in Max too. Many other souvenir items will be available as funds come in.

Vi Kostenko and Marion Schmidt spent Sunday in Bismarck with Don and Carolyn Nett.

The new and improved Max web-site is up and running. There are many areas to look into, including a Centennial ‘page’ and all of the weekly Max News features. It is a simple www.maxnd.com Enjoy all the colorful pictures. You’ll be surprised we have that many businesses in town, and yet several construction businesses were forgotten but will be added in at a later date.
