New babies, new Grandparents, and many Great-Grandparents head up this week's news. A daughter was born to Sarah (Barden) and Adam Becker of the Minot Air Force Base. Angele Irene Becker was born in Minot on Wednesday, September 28th. First-time Grandparents are Carolyn and Robert Barden of Max; Carl and Bernadette Becker of Fall River, MA.; and Lila Fannik of Max is one of the Great-Grandparents! Congratulations to all of you!

A daughter was born to Kari (Gullickson) and Craig Rodenberg of Rapid City, SD. Kylie Irene Rodenberg was born in Rapid City on Monday, October 10th. First-time Grandparents are Nancy and Terry Gullickson of Max and Jim and Shelley Rodenberg of Wolf Point, MT. Great-Grandparents are Irene Schoenwald of Max; Viola Gullickson of Max; Ed and Jackie McHugh of Helena, MT., and Harry and Mary Ann Rodenberg of Wolf Point, MT. Congratulations to all of you!

So if you see proud smiles in Max, you can be sure our brand new grandparents, Carolyn and Robert, and Nancy and Terry, are wearing them! Welcome to the new world of being Grandparents!

DeWitt, Dwight J and Casey Mack from Mandan spent the week-end at Dwight and DeeOn Mack's home, while here for hunting.

Visitors at Lila Fannik's since she returned home have been Marge (Devnich) and Paul Seifert from TN.; Jill (Narum) and Bruce Vittitow, along with their children Olivia and Blake. The Vittitow's are from KY.

Others visiting were Phyllis and Hilbert Narum from Douglas; Marge Scurlock, Lorna Sambor, LaVonne Fannik from Max; and Mel Opstad from Big Lake, MN.

Marian Schmidt attended the funeral for Arnold's cousin's wife, Laila Schmidt, in Minot. Our sympathy to all the families.

The Max Senior Citizen's monthly meeting will be this Friday, 14th., at 2:00. Monday, the 17th, is October's Centennial planning meeting at 7:30. Sunday, October 23 from 11:30 to 1:30 the Fall Festival will be held at the Max Immaculate Conception Church.

And speaking of the Centennial meeting, remember that deadlines for many things are coming closer. February of 2006 is the deadline for getting your information in for the Centennial book. Information such as the history of your family, your business-past or present, history of the home you live in-like former occupants, and any pictures you want in the book. If you still need forms for any of these histories, please contact Dellora Schmidt at ewschmidt@webtv.net or PO Box #315, Max.

The Max Library has their recipe book deadline set for the end of December, 2005. Please send all recipes and/or hints to maxlib@restel.net or PO Box #116, Max.

The Golf Tourney will be held Friday a.m. at the Garrison Golf Course. Please contact Jarvis Jungling at 679-2762 or PO Box 7, Max, if you would like to participate in this event.

And last, but definitely not least, is the Praise Service to be held on Main Street Sunday afternoon. Any and all instrumental and/or vocal selections, readings, histories, and memories wouldl be appreciated as a part of this service. For those of you reading this, you may want to cut it out and save this information on how to make contact with the various Centennial committee members. Any questions, contact Max Centennial at PO Box 233, Max.

Before all the excitement of the Centennial starts, take a moment and enjoy homemade soups and sandwiches on October 23 from 11:30 to 1:30 at the Catholic Church in Max. Soups are knephla, bean, and chicken tortilla; sandwiches will be beef, pork, and egg salad, all served on homemade buns. There will be several varities of homemade pie also.

Along with the good food, crafts and bake goods will be for sale. The quilt raffle will also be held. Tickets for this are available from any Ladies Aid member, at the cost of $1 each or 6 for $5. You may view this handmade quilt at Bremer Bank in Max.
