We have lost another long time resident, in the passing of Awald Krueger. Awald lived in Max for awhile and along with his wife, Laura, kept our school clean and our children smiling. His funeral was Wednesday at Concordia Lutheran Church in Benedict. We extend our sympathy to his family.

We are happy to have Lila Fannik back home to recuperate. Lila came home as a new Great Grandmother!

Reminders and more reminders: Centennial things such as recipes, histories, advertisements, and things you put in the back of your mind, are due soon.

This coming Sunday, October 9th the Rocky Acres 4-H Club is meeting at 2 p.m. Our Savior's Lutheran lutefisk and meatball dinner will be served from 1 until 6 p.m. Praise Band from Our Savior's will perform at 1 p.m.

Monday evening at 7:30 is the Civic Club meeting. This is the last meeting before their big Steak Fry, which is being held on October 29th from 5 - 8 and dancing to Nite Owls from then on. Tickets are $15.00 and only 300 tickets will be sold, so purchase early. The Proceeds go to the Max-Garrison Ambulance and Civic Club projects. Thrivent will match these funds.

Monday, the 17th is the October Centennial planning meeting, bringing us one month closer to the actual celebration in 2006. Bring or send your recipes, hints, histories, advertisements to this meeting - cross those off your 'To Do' list!

Teachers' Convention is coming! No school on October 20 nor 21. Hire a young person to help you - inside and outside - before winter sets in and school work fills their time.

Further into the month, we have the Immaculate Conception Church's Fall Festival on October 23. You can start buying your raffle tickets now for the quilt. They are $1 each or 6 for $5. The quilt may be viewed at Bremer Bank in Max.

Preschool Halloween Party at the Max Library on Thursday, October 27 at 10:30 a.m.

Max School Fall Concert this Thursday also at 7:30.

Civic Club Steak Fry Saturday, October 29 starting at 5 p.m.

Library's Annual Halloween Party on Monday, October 31 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. This is for Kindergarten through grade 6.

Thinking ahead so you can plan - reserve a table at the Library's Annual Flea Market and Book Fair on Sunday, November 13 from 9:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tables are now $10. each.
