Max News 11-14-05 Delayed news; Recent visitors at Lila Fannik's home were her nephew Don Meronuck of Fargo, ND and Rose Meronuck and her son Chris Meronuck, both from the Minneapolis, MN. area. DeWitt, Pam, Dwight J., Shaylynn and Casey Mack and friend Brian Houser from Mandan stopped in at Dwight and DeeOn's home on Sunday on their way home from Hockey in Minot. A reminder to get your recipes and/or hints into the Max Library for their Centennial cookbook. Please keep in mind that anyone can take part in this, not just the Max Alumni. You are a part of Max so please take part in the town's activities, one of which is providing what is needed to make this a fantastic cookbook. On Sunday, December 4th there will be a noon potluck at the Civic Center for Marian Schmaltz. There will be a free-will offering and the proceeds will go towards her medical expenses. This is being subsidized by McLean County Chapter Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. If you are unable to attend but would like to contribute, please make out your check with this abbreviation. The November Centennial planning meeting at 7:30 on Monday, November 21. If you live in or near Max, please come. You are part of the community and the Centennial is for you too. Many think they have to be a Max School Alumni to take part in any of the planning etc. You will enjoy the celebration so much more if you helped plan it. Library Week is going on in Max this week with this past Sunday's Flea Market kicking off the week. The Senior Citizens served a wonderful lunch; Venders enjoyed the customers and visits. The Library's book sale will continue through Friday with many books and gifts being purchased already on Sunday. Monday night Terry Voeller from Lowe's showed a couple of dozen women how to make a big 22 inch wreath with evergreen boughs, ribbons, and Christmas tree balls. This wreath was then won by Idamae Hauf. Lunch was served by the Library. Thursday night, the 17th at 7:00 Brenda Henne will be helping you make a scrapbook page with the pictures you bring. Contact Brenda for anymore information you need. 679-2256. November 20th at 2:30 there will be a Pampered Chef party at the Max Senior Center, with the Center getting a percentage of the proceeds. Everyone is welcome. Following the wreath demonstration by Terry Voeller as a part of Library Week, the Civic Club meeting was held with a good dozen people attending. Santa Day was discussed. It is being held on Saturday, December 10th with french toast and ham being served before Santa Claus arrives. Watch for more information on this fun day. Also discussed at the Civic Club meeting was the Seasons Greetings swag that hangs across Main Street. It is in need of electrical repair, replaced, or lit up someother way. An estimate of the electrical repairs needed will be obtained. Having a Christmas decorating contest of the homes and yards in Max was discussed.
