RUSHVILLE FARMERS UNION TO MEET ! Rushville Farmers Union Local annual meeting will be Thursday, December 1st at 7:00 at the Lila Fannik home in Max. Election of officers will take place as well as selection of delegates to the State Convention in Minot.

On Sunday, December 4th there will be a noon potluck at the Max Civic Center for Marian Kohler Schmaltz. The free-will offering will go towards helping her with medical expenses. This is being subsidized by McLean County Chapter Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. If you are unable to attend but would like to contribute, please make out your check using this abbreviation, McLean Co. Ch. Thrivent Finc. Luth. Any donations may be mailed to P.O. Box #235 at Max, ND 58759-0235. Thank you!

The Pampered Chef party at the Senior Citizens Center in Max on Sunday was very well attended. You may still place an order until Monday, November 28th. Please call Traci Ruhland at 337-5485 or Susan Moreno at 679-2656. The Center is receiving a percentage of these sales. Help them out!

The newest daycare in Max now has its own website and they invite you to check into it to see what they can offer for your children. Parents can read the policies and see current rates and also see pictures of their setup, playrooms, etc. Their web-site is www.teddybearhugsdaycare.com and their e-mail address is us@teddybearhugsdaycare.com. They have alot of room inside for all types of playing and learning and once spring comes, your children can play in a fenced yard with a very large sandbox. Check into this new business in Max.

The November Centennial Planning meeting was held on Monday evening. The food committee has changed their name from Ethnic Food Fair to Cossack Quisine! They'll be serving food inside the Civic Center on Friday and Saturday of the celebration. Tables will be set up for you to sit, eat, and visit! Friday evening is the Alumni banquet and Saturday evening there will be a meal for everyone to enjoy.

The Promotions Committee reported that more caps will be ordered and supplies of shirts and caps will always be on hand. But there will not be anymore afghans ordered. There are some left so if you want one, please get it now or at least place your order for it now, even if you don't want it mailed. We will hold it for you until you arrive in Max this coming summer. These are both the full color and the two color afghans. You can see them on the Max web-site, along with prices. www.maxnd.com

The family and business histories are not coming in as expected. The deadline for these is February 1, 2006. After that you will not be able to have your history in the book. Again, if you need help writing these up, please contact Dellora Schmidt at 679-2422 and she will make sure someone will help you.

Does your business or family want to put an ad in the History book? It could be greetings from your family - many possibilities of what can be put in the space you purchase. Contact Edwin Schmidt at his office at 679-2551 to do this or for more information.

There are parade entry forms available now from the parade chairman, Dwight Mack. The parade will be on Saturday, July 1 at 11:00. Contact Dwight at 679-2623 or dwimack@restel.net. You will receive an entry form to fill out and return so the announcer during the parade will be able to tell about your entry as you pass by his station.

The Max Public School band instructor, Colleen Zabka, will have a band playing during the parade. This will not be a marching band! Anyone caring to take part in this band, even if you are not an alumni, please contact Colleen at the school at 679-2685. If she isn't available, leave your name and information so she can contact you about the musical selections etc.You may also write her at P.O. Box #297; Max, ND 58759-0297.

The Kabanuk and Lindquist families will be providing musical selections on Friday afternoon. There will be more details of other entertainment during the 3 days, later on.

There is still a need for a band to play for the Friday night outdoor dance. Alot of bands don't want to sign a contract until after the first of the year, though. Sentimental Journey band is playing inside the Civic Center on Friday evening. Saturday evening Northern Express is playing inside and Front Fenders will be playing outside, for dancing.

Banners to put on the poles along the streets were discussed. There are many various sizes, designs, and color choices. A representative from the firm making these will be at the December 19th. Centennial Planning meeting to help us decide. Any business and/or family may 'purchase' a banner and have their name added along with the logo or whatever is put on the banners. Contact Edwin Schmidt at 679-2551 for more information on these banners. Pole brackets will be needed and may be purchased or made. Edwin has information on those too.

The Alumni Committee reported another alumni letter will be going out sometime after the New Year to let you know the complete schedule of events.

Having signs along Highway #83 both north and south of Max were discussed. There are two out-dated signs there now and could be redone or professional signs could be added to the bottom of the large MAX signs. This will be checked into.

You are welcome to sell your crafts on the street during Friday and Saturday. You will need to bring your own tables. The fee is $35 plus 5% of your sales. Call Edwin Schmidt to reserve your space or for more information.

The final drawing of the Centennial Fundraiser was held. $50 went to Adam Wilcox of Max; $250 went to Denise Lies Leabo of Fargo; and the big winner of $500 was Nita Olson of Douglas. Nita was also one of the earlier $50 winners. Congratulations to all of you! There will be no more drawings.

The next Centennial Planning meeting will be at 7:30 on December 19th. Remember, you do not need to be an alumni to come to these meetings! We need your input, no matter where you went to school! And aren't you just a wee-bit curious as to what all the celebration will have for you!

Recipes and hints are still needed for the Library's Centennial Cookbook. Anyone is more than welcome to contribute to this cookbook. Maybe you have friends and relatives living elsewhere that would like to contribute. Just contact the library at 679-2263; PO Box #116; or at maxlib@restel.net.
