Max News 3-21-05 All children are invited to attend Good News Club on Monday afternoons at 3:25 at the Max First Baptist Church. There are Bible stories, verses, games, singing, and lunch. Invite your friends to come with you. The dates for this are April 4, 18, and 21. Only three left. This is sponsored by C.E.F. teachers and helpers, Annie Rovenko, Lila Fannik, Cindy Capp, and Pam Arnold. The Max Fire Department is sponsoring a community gathering to welcome home Ralph Yester. This will be a potluck from 4 – 6 at the Civic Hall, on Sunday, April 3. Ralph has been in Iraq for over a year. He returned home to his family in Max this past week-end. His wife, Lisa, and 2 sons have remained in Max during his absence. Ralph is the Maintainer operator for this area. A new baby girl has been born to Heidi Hatlestad. Alexis Jo was born March 12 th, and weighed 6 pounds and 5 ounces. Alexis has a big sister Abbie Marie and Grandparents Gary and Jody Gullickson and Gary Hatlestad, and other relatives and friends to love her. Looking ahead into May, there will be a Wheels for Life bike-a-thon on May 7 th in Max. This is for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Reminder; donations are requested for the new playground equipment going up soon in the Max City Park, and for the new Centennial Park to be located on the west side of the Civic Center. In that park, donations are needed for a lighted flag pole. Any checks should be made out to the City Park Board and mailed to Max City Hall at P.O. Box #116; Max, North Dakota 58759-0116. Each one making a donation, whether in memory or in honor of someone, or just as a donation, will be identified in some form in each park, along with the ones being honored or remembered. The Dr. Pepper can still stands on the ice. Deadline for purchasing tickets is April first. Three guesses per ticket cost you $5. Phone Nancy Gullickson at 679-2625 or anyone else in Max to purchase your tickets. The Max Centennial Fund Raising tickets are also still available at the cost of $10. from anyone in Max. These are in a drawing once a month, with the winner getting $50 and having his name put back in, with a chance to win again, and again! This month’s $50 winner was Carter Myre of Minot. Congratulations! The Max Annual Firemen’s meeting will be held this coming Monday evening, March 28 th, at 8 P.M. The Centennial Celebration meeting was held on Monday evening at the Civic Center. Reports were heard from the various committees. The Promotions Committee reports they have sold 31 full-color Afghans and 2 two-color Afghans. Available now for sale are the afghans; long and short sleeve denim shirts; cream or grey sweatshirts; cup holders; ornaments; and new items are playing cards in a choice of six colors and pocket/purse toothpick holders. Contact Linda Haynes at 679-2563. Other reports stated that Ethnic Food served by the churches, may be purchased both the Friday and Saturday of the Centennial. The City Supper will be served on Saturday evening, July 1st., and is being catered by Kyle’s Katering of Garrison. There will be pre-registration and a fee for this meal. This is open to the public. The tent has been secured for the Centennial week-end. Concessions were discussed and any school classes, individuals, groups or organizations are welcome to sell concessions on Main Street during the Centennial. Many are updating mailing addresses and e-mail addresses. Help is always needed and welcome in any area!
