The Max School would like to thank everyone who contributed to their fundraiser. It was a very fun-filled day! They raised $1581.00, including the $250.00 from Thrivent, for the school’s playground equipment renovation and for the nature trail. Thank you for supporting the school!

Another thank you goes out to all of the many volunteers who helped set up the new City Park playground equipment this past Saturday. The weather was beautiful! Youngsters and ‘oldsters’ alike all helped. If you haven’t seen this new equipment, take a drive past the City Park. A bit more needs to be done but with all those volunteers, the biggest part of the job has been accomplished. Thank you for supporting the community!

Monday evening, May 2 nd at 7:00 is the Max City Council meeting at the Civic Center. This is an open meeting and there will be discussions on the clean up around Max. If you are the owner of something like that, please let the City Council know what you plan to do or would like done. Come to the meeting and hear your choices. If you cannot do the cleanup on your own, help is available.

Advertising for the History book is needed. Please contact an alumni if you can purchase an ad.

Entertainment was discussed with several possibilities. There is a need for float ideas as Max is to have a float in the Garrison Centennial Parade this coming July. Please contact Dwight Mack at 679-2623 or e-mail him at dwimack@restel.net with your ideas.

It was discussed putting Centennial Celebration signs below the large MAX signs that stand north and south of Max.

Food venders are needed to set up on the streets, daytime and/or evening for those taking in the dances and music, or just visiting. Please get a hold of anyone on the Centennial Committee or come to the meetings held every third Monday evening at 7:30 in the Max Civic Center. Let us know what you can serve, etc.

There will be a “Thanksgiving For 100 Years” praise service held under the big tent at 2:00 on Sunday during the Centennial week-end of June 30 th, July 1 st and 2 nd, 2006. The committee is looking for entertainment from you, the people, in the form of vocals, instrumentals, histories, readings, memories, etc. Please contact Karen Berg at 679-2778 or P.O. Box 14, Max.

A golf tournament is being planned for Friday morning and the parade will be held Saturday morning. There will be more information on these events as the time gets closer.

Needed, though, are supporters…….especially at the Centennial Planning meetings! Support your community, whether you graduated from Max High School or not and even if you are recent resident of the community. No doubt you’ll be enjoying the events planned during that time, so let’s all work together and make it as wonderful as it can be. The next meeting will be at 7:30, May 16 th. Record your favorite Monday evening television shows that night and watch them later, fast forwarding through all the commercials!

Joyce Malling of Max won the $50 in the drawing held at this meeting. Her name goes back in so she, and you too, could be a winner again and again! If you don’t have a ticket, many in Max can sell you one!

Following the meeting, the Promotions Committee sold many of the new decks of cards, denim short and long sleeve shirts, and pocket/purse toothpick holders, among other souvenir items.
