Centennial News: The deadline for the Max Library Centennial Cookbook recipes and/or hints, is December 31, 2005. They haven’t been receiving any lately so once again, send them in. If you have e-mail, just send them that way. The Max Library e-mail address is: maxlib@restel.net

And they want to thank everyone for helping them get the toilet paper tubes. They have plenty now so you don’t need to save them for their Summer Reading Program anymore. That’s ‘Community Involvement’ at work and ‘Community Support’ too!

Birth Announcement: Lisa and Paul Huesers are the proud parents of a baby boy, Cole Maynard Huesers. Cole was born May 26 th. His Maternal Grandparents are Greg and Sheri Heger of Douglas and Paternal Grandparents are Karen and the late Maynard Huesers of Max. This is the first Grandson for Karen! Congratulations to the new parents and grandparents!

Several came from out of town to help celebrate the marriage of Sarah Barden and Adam Becker on May 28 th, 2005. Carl and Bernadette Becker, Adam’s parents; and Mathew Becker, Adam’s brother all came from Massachusetts.

Howell Barden, Sr., Sarah’s Grandfather came from South Carolina. Stella Burts, Sarah’s Grandmother; Howell Barden, Jr, Sarah’s Uncle; Gary and Cheryl Wigley, Sarah’s Aunt and Uncle; Braden Barden, Sarah’s brother; Timothy Martin, Sarah’s nephew; and Virginia Sides, Sarah’s Aunt, all came from Georgia.

Collin, Natalie and Teigan Hankel; and Sandy and Emily Thornton all came from Minnesota. Stacey and Jackson Lamy and Amanda Narum came from Nevada.

Other out of town guests from North Dakota were John and Alice Dvirnak, Elmer and Kate Dvirnak, Tim and Sally Dvirnak, and Lorin and Karen Dvirnak, coming from Killdeer. Deb Greenup came from Dickinson while Kathy Krebsbach, Kristy and Taylor Krebsbach came from Bowman, North Dakota. Melody Kahlbough came from Grand Forks.

Sarah and Adam Becker left on Sunday to spend their honeymoon in Mass.

Saturday evening many from Max and out of town surprised Duwayne Haynes for his 60 th birthday! This supper was held at the Max Senior Center, while the reception for Sarah and Adam Becker was being held at the Max Civic Center. The little town of Max was busy and the streets were full! Duwayne and Linda Haynes’ daughter, Lori, flew home from Arizona where she works in Trauma Care in one of the hospitals in Phoenix.

On Sunday Marian and Warren Schmidt went to Bismarck to take in Lorraine and Edgar Schmidt’s son’s High School Graduation. Kevin’s ceremony was held at the Bismarck Civic Auditorium. He graduated from Bismarck High.

On Monday, Marian and her Mother, Vi Kostenko, went with Fred and Betty Abelseth, Vi’s sister, of Minot to Kenmare where they visited Vi’s parents’ and brother’s grave. Fred and Betty’s daughter, Candace, also went with.

The organizers of this coming Saturday’s Flea Market and City Wide Yard Sales are expecting at least 20 sales to be set up in and around Max. Call Karla Erickson at 679-2536 if you are interested in having a sale June 4 th.

Today, Thursday, June 2 from 2 to 3 o’clock is the Max Library Summer Reading Program Kick off! For more information, call the Library at 679-2263.

Sunday, June 5 the Ward County 4-H Junior Leaders are having a pancake and sausage breakfast and a silent auction from 10:30 until 1:00 P.M.

City Council meeting is Monday evening at 7:00, June 6 th. Summer School starts June 8th.

Sunday, June 12 from 2 to 4 is the 90 th birthday party for Dan Flath at the Max Senior Citizens’ Center. “No gifts please”. Our Savior’s Lutheran “Praise Band” will be providing music.

Swimming lessons at the YMCA are from June 13-17. Call Lynae Schroeder to register or with any questions. 679-2505.

Around town you’ll notice the bin being dismantled just east of the Elevator. It is being moved, in parts, to Wyoming. Watch for pictures on the Max web-site.

While putting up a picture of the beautiful male black and brown German Shepherd dog that has been found and living with us at 679-2459 until his owners can be found, I noticed a Realtor’s notice for the sale of the Centennial Cafe in Max. Any alumni who would like to move back to Max and run a cafe? There are still a lot of opportunities in Max for businesses. Look on the Max web-site for some that are needed. Come back to your ‘roots’ and help with your town’s Centennial Celebration.
