Max News 8-1-05 The eight children of the Joseph and Dorothy (Dassenko) Scheresky family held a reunion at the mountain cabin of Wilbur Scheresky near Glacier National Park on the weekend of July 15-17. Those present included Laurence (Lenore) Scheresky and daughter, Kathy Kopp of DesLacs; Alvin Scheresky, Glen Ewen, Sask.; daughter Trina Ilchuk of Kisbey, Sask.; and granddaughter Karla Beatty of Calgary, AB.; Evelyn (Harold) Oberg of Medical Lake, WA.; Ruth (Miles) Barnhart of Scottsdale, AZ.; Violette (Vic) Ahlberg of Keokuk, IA: Dennis (Gertrude) Scheresky of Max, N.D. and daughter Candace Kahn of Houston, TX.; and Dianne (Roland) Carlill of Fairbanks, AK. Members of the Sam Scheresky family included: Jim (Dianne) Scheresky of Benedict, N.D.; Grace (Ivan) Scheresky Williams of Gresham, OR.; Agnes Scheresky Dahl and Carol Scheresky Brown, Portland, OR. area. Dorothy Scheresky's sister, Lena (Harlan) Schild, Sturgis, S.D.; and Elaine (Dassenko Evanenko) and Bennie Brown of Moses Lake, WA. also attended. Two special guests, Lena and daughter, Daryna Shchekotikhina, relatives in the Dassenko family line from Kiev, Ukraine also were present. Wilbur Scheresky and his family, Lisa, Jayce and four daughters hosted the event. Heather (Iverson) and Scott Lee of Benedict had their third daughter July 14th at 11:27 p.m.in Bismarck's St. Alexis Hospital. Her name is Emmersyn Jo Lee but is called Emmy Jo! She has two sisters at home to help take care of her. Ryley is 2 and 1/2 years old and Allie is 1 and 1/2 years old. They really like their new baby sister and love to show her off. Congratulations to Mom and Dad and to Grandpa and Grandma Raymond and Candace Iverson of Max. Bernice Iverson, formerly of Max, will be celebrating her 80th birthday on this Saturday, August 6 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Cashwise Grocery Store Community Room in Fargo, N.D. The address is 1401 33rd Street S.W. Everyone is welcome. On July 26, JoAnn, Bo, Dalton and Daryl Riley, Bentonia, Miss. arrived at Elaine Kohler's. Elaine is JoAnn's Mother. Marian and Jacob Schmaltz, Max, were at Elaine's when they arrived. On July 28, JoAnn, Bo, Dalton and Daryl Riley of Bentonia, Miss. along with Jacob Schmaltz were supper guests at JoAnn's sister, Lena and Tom Volochenko of rural Butte. On Saturday, Becky Schmaltz, Bismarck and Bret Bovkoon, West Fargo were overnight guests with Richard and Marian Schmaltz, Jeremy and Jacob. Elaine Kohler, Tom and Lena Volochenko, Butte; Tom, Lauri, Chase, Cammi, and Charli Kohler, Benedict; Richard, Marian, Jeremy and Jacob Schmaltz, Max; Becky Schmaltz, Bismarck; John, Darla and Jackie Kohler, Max; Kristie, Gary, and Bret Bovkoon of West Fargo; JoAnn, Bo, Dalton and Daryl Riley of Bentonia, Miss. enjoyed a Sunday dinner potluck at Elaine's. Later April Volochenko of Bismarck and Otto Kohler of Max stopped in to visit. Elaine Kohler got word on Sunday evening that one of her sisters, Harriet Evenson, Minot had passed away that afternoon. Our sympahy to Elaine and family. This week-end, August 6 and 7 is the big Rodeo in Max. Performances are at 5 o'clock on Saturday and 2 o'clock on Sunday. The big 6-party rummage sale is being held those two days also. Watch for signs for other rummage sales too. August 20th is Max's City Wide Rummage sale event. Bring your own chair. There is a notice of a new day care service in Max posted on the community bulletin board inside the entryway to the hall. Check it out if you are in need of day care.
