Max News 9-19-05

While 'touring' around our little town looking for news and pictures, I noticed we have increased in size with 12 campers of every style parked at the campground and at the trailer court. Many of the men working on the water line heading to Lake Sakakawea are staying in Max. And many of the custom combiners here to help the farmers are also staying in Max.

On Sunday, Steve, Dawn, Samantha, DeeAnna and Stephanie Ziegler from Hazen came to have dinner 'on the farm' with Grandma and Grandpa Mack.

Friday the Senior Citizens will be having their monthly potluck at 6 pm.

The next City Council meeting will be held at the Civic Center on October 3 at 7 p.m. You are needed to attend that meeting and/or voice your opinion, before the meeting, on the Max bars being open until 2 a.m. Unless there is alot of opposition voiced to or received by a council member prior to that meeting, it will be approved. Council members are Robert Barden, Susan Moreno, Don Krebsbach, Guenther, and Mayor Gullickson.

The September Centennial planning meeting was held on Monday evening. More plans have been finalized but help is needed in a few areas. Read on and hopefully you can come up with some answers.

There is a group that will do a comical 'reenactment' of an event that took place in Max years ago. If you can remember an interesting, but true, event that went on in the early days, please contact Edwin Schmidt at 679-2551.

Information is needed on Boeing; dates they were here, who worked there, and anyother information you can provide. Contact Kathy Huettl at 529-4430.

The Max Alumni will put any pictures you have, in their Alumni book. Please write down who the people are in the pictures, where it was taken, and when it was taken, if possible. Also, please write down what graduating class you were in. Mail them to Colleen Jungling Johnson at P.O. Box #238; Max, N.D. 58759-0238. Colleen will return all pictures to you.

Advertising for the Centennial book is needed. If you know of anyone who has a business, not necessarily in N.D., that may like to advertise, please let them know or contact Edwin Schmidt so the necessary contacts can be made. Costs are as follows: $100/full page ad; $65/half page ad; $35/1/4th page ad; $20/1/8th page ad or business card size ad; $5/one line ad. You may even 'advertise' your family by putting in greetings etc.

Walter Carlson of Douglas was the winner of the Fund Raiser drawing.

And last but not least, funds raised by selling the Max Centennial souvenir items are over $7000. Thankyou to each and everyone of you who have purchased items!

"If you have something to do that is worthwhile doing, don't talk about it...do it." George W. Biount
