Max News 10-02-06 We extend our sympathy to Roselle Kostenko in the loss of her sister, Nancy Weatherton of Cook, Minnesota. Nancy passed away September 18th. Nancy Roth Weatherton was formerly of the Max area. A Max native and Max High School graduate, Dr. Barry Wenger, presented an organ concert this past Friday evening at Minot State University's Ann Nicole Nelson Hall. Barry graduated from Max High in 1988 and from Minot State University in 1993. His parents are Vernon and Barbara Wenger. Several attended the Senior Citizens' potluck this past Friday evening. They all enjoyed a delicious supper. The Max Senior Citizens' will be having their monthly meeting next Friday, the 13th. at 2:00 p.m. at the Center.There will be election of officers so if you do not want to be elected, be sure to come to the meeting! On Saturday, Margaret Zaderaka had coffee and cookies with the "Johnson sisters", Lila, Marge, and Lorna, at Lorna's home. Lorna's daughter, Connie, had made arrangements for Lorna to be surprised with the gift of a f ull-color Centennial afghan that afternoon. On Sunday Lila Fannik and her daughter, Carolyn Barden, traveled to Dickinson to attend the 25th. Anniversary of the Immanuel Baptist Church there. Karen Dvirnak is the pastor and the Rev. Wayne Dvirnak of Colorado gave the morning message. Wayne is Lila's nephew. Their afternoon was spent at Monte and Deb Greenup's home where many Dvirnaks and Fanniks enjoyed the time together. It was a very enjoyable day with beautiful weather for traveling. Several from Max took in Concordia Lutheran Church's Ethnic Dinner in Benedict on Sunday. They reported there was food galoore and very good! On Monday, October 2nd., the Reservation Telephone Cooperative served an appreciation lunch in Max. This was catered by Kyle's Katering of Garrison. And some more good food will be served this Sunday, the 8th. when Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Max has their lutefisk and meatball meal with serving from 1 to 6 p.m. at the church. Monday, the 9th. at 7:30 the Max Civic Club will be meeting. And Tuesday, the 10th., the Max City Council will be meeting at 7 p.m. Both of these meetings are held in the Max Civic Center on Main Street. A reminder of the Preschool Story Hour Halloween Party at 10:30 at the Max Library on Friday, the 13th. And if you haven't signed up to attend the Karate class, please phone Lynae Schroeder at 679-2505. There will be a karate class at 3:30 at the City Hall on Friday, October 20th. but you must be signed up to attend as the class size is limited.
