There is snowy weather in our area with wind-chill temperatures in the double digits below zero! Ed. and Idamae Hauf spent several days last week with their son Darrin and his wife, Shannon at Ankeny, Iowa. On Saturday they attended a football game between the Iowa State University Cyclones and Missouri State on the campus of Iowa State at Ames. On Tuesday they traveled to Waconia, MN. where they spent several days with their daughter Brenda and her husband, Brian and were Thanksgiving Day dinner guests. Their son, Jim of Maplewood, MN. joined them for part of the week also. Darrin and Shannon of Ankeny visited briefly at the Reister's on Thursday evening. On Friday afternoon they enjoyed an exciting game of hockey at the Excel Center in St. Paul where the MN. Wild hockey team played Phoenix and won by 4-0. Santa Day is coming closer, being held on December 9th., a Saturday. Civic Club will be serving french toast and sausage from 9:30 to 11:30 and Santa Claus will have treat bags for the children. There will also be horse drawn wagon (sleigh?) rides and special music, along with fingerprinting by the McLean County Sheriff's Department. Be sure to stop in at the bank and sign up for the 2 special prizes. This event is sponsored by Bremer Bank and Insurance and is being held at the Max Civic Center on Main Street. Earlier this fall several members of St. Matthew's Lutheran Women's Missionary League enjoyed their summer outing at the Prairie Pines Bread and Breakfast owned and operated by Tammy Hauf of rural Max. The ladies held a short meeting, were taken on a tour of the Bread & Breakfast and were served a delicious lunch by Tammy. This Bed and Breakfast is a short distance east of Max. Have you dropped off mittens, gloves, hats/caps, and scarves at Bremer Bank where the children of St. Matthew's Church have left a box? Members of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church had a pizza party following worship services on Sunday and then joined together to decorate the church for the coming Advent and Christmas season.
