Although last week’s news was short, it still got lost in the e-mail ‘wires’ and did not reach the McLean County Independent. It did mention the Centennial meeting that took place this past Sunday, and as I understand, there was a good crowd in attendance. Another item brought up in last week’s news pertains to the Max web-site and anyone wanting their e-mail address listed on it. Just e-mail your address to our web gal at sue@imi99.com and don’t forget to mention which graduating class you were in, so she can put it in the correct spot. You may want to check yours if it is already in there, as some are outdated and need to be revised. The street banners and the History book were top items discussed at the Centennial meeting. There will be more information on both of those in next week’s news. I was unable to be there so I cannot give you a more complete report on the meeting. World Day of Prayer will be held March 3 rd at 7:30 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Max. Mrs. Gordon Olson of Minot will be speaking about their trip to Russia. Fellowship time to follow. The Catholic Church Ladies Aid have finished their Centennial quilt and it is being displayed in Bremer Bank in Max. You will definitely want to go look at it! It is full size, with 19 large old time pictures of Max on it. There is also a matching pillow with another old time picture on it. This will be raffled off as a set, quilt and pillow together. Tickets may be purchased from any Ladies Aid member. For those out of town, please contact Susan Halverson at 679-2607 or 679-2697 regarding purchasing tickets. Civic Club Membership Night will be held on March 13. This is also their fish fry so you will want to come for that. Notices: Christmas items, used or new are wanted at the Seeds of Hope Store in Bismarck. They have a Christmas area that is open all year around. Their sales benefit domestic violence. You may take these, or anyother items, to the store at 520 East Main Avenue, Bismarck, or contact DeeOn Mack at 679-2623. Our own McLean County Resource Center in Washburn is in need of children’s clothes for boys and girls, up to Junior sizes. They also need dishes and utensils to help some set up housekeeping. Good used or new blankets in all sizes would also be appreciated. This is located at 719 Main Avenue in Washburn. You may contact DeeOn Mack regarding these items. The Center’s number is (701) 462-8643. “One of the most valuable things we can do to heal one another, is listen to each other’s stories.” Rebecca Falls
