Max News 7-24-06 'Tis hot in Max! Farmers are busy haying and the North Dakota State Fair is on this week in Minot, so naturally it is going to be hot! Promises to be cooler - in the 80's - later on! We were so fortunate to have had our Centennial celebration when we did as every week-end since then has been unbearably hot, in the upper 90's. The surrounding towns have been having their Centennial celebrations in that heat. Walt Nicoliason of Max and Minot fell in his apartment on Saturday morning. He suffered a broken hip, and is recuperating at Trinity Hospital. I'm sure he would enjoy a card or a note in the mail, writes Linda Feldner. Trinity Hospital address is #1 Burdick Expressway West; Minot, North Dakota 58701. The Max Community Garage Sale has been set for Saturday, August 5. Several parties have come forward and requested to have it during the rodeo. Please contact Lynae Schroeder at 679-2505 if you are interested in having a sale so we can include you on the map and in the advertising. The Max Summer Reading Program Paws, Claws, Scales, and Tales concluded this past Friday with a picnic in the Max park. Those who attended the picnic and received prizes were: Colton, Brooke, and Alex Schroeder; Jessica, Christina, and Stephinie Bingham; Adam and Jordan Guenthner; Gwen, Hope, and Ben Scheresky; Nicholas and Christopher Brunsell; and Kaylee Capp. A special thanks to the Max Centennial Souvenir Committee for their donation of Centennial magnets and Centennial ornaments to all the children attending the picnic. If you have registered for the second swimming session on August 7-11 at the YMCA, please contact Lynae Schroeder at 679-2505 to discuss a few details. At the moment, this session is full. The Max Rodeo performances will be Friday, August 4th at 6 p.m. and Saturday, August 5th at 5 p.m. Saturday will be an active day in Max with city wide rummage sales going on too. he Max Centennial Souvenir Shop in the Youth Center at the Civic Center will be open some on those days. Watch for the door to be open and come on in and purchase more souvenirs for gifts - Christmas is coming and we are already running out of items. The items are also for sale through the Max Library on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays of other weeks. Tomorrow, July 28th the Max Senior Citizens are having their potluck supper at 6 p.m. The Senior Center is air conditoned so come and become a member. "As you get older, don't slow down. Speedup.
