A big welcome to our new Centennial Cafe owner! Carol and Don Olson have retired from the cafe business, but only 'tired', not 'retired' from work! Thankyou, Carol and Don, and Michael, for all the wonderful years and meals you have served all of us!

In other articles and in future columns of Max News, you will learn more about our new cafe owner. She and her son did a wonderful job of serving the recent Centennial Appreciation Supper. Welcome to Max!

The people who went to April Volochenko and Bob Meckle's wedding on September 16th. at Tom and Lena Volochenko's home place were Grandma Marian Elaine Kohler; John, Darla, Katie and Jackie Kohler; and Marian, Rick, and Becky Schmaltz of Max.

Others in attendance were Tom, Laurie, Chase, Cammie, and Charlie Kohler of Benedict.  Gary, Kristie and Brett Bovkonn came from Fargo, while Jon and Sarah Bovkoon came from Minnesota. Joel, Lisa, Anthony, and Makayla of Mandan came, with Makayla being the Junior Bridesmaid.

Otto and Ann Kohler and families and Ernest and Hilda Kohler and their families were also there. April is Tom and Lena Volochenko's daughter and she chose her family's home yard for this 7 p.m. wedding. Even though it was cold,  440 people attended. Congratulations to the newlyweds.

Rodney Kastner, Missionary to Zimbauwe, and a friend of the Fannik family, was a visitor at Lila Fannik's this past week. He is returning to his Missionary work in October for 3 more years of teaching at a Bible School there.

On Sunday afternoon, the three sisters of Lorna Sambor, Lila Fannik, and Margaret Scurlock attended the 50th. anniversary celebration for Richard and Marlene Pederson at their farm in the South Prairie area. I was unable to find the newspaper article I was told about, but it seems this is a Centennial farm with the events being held in the Pederson's 90 year old barn. One of the many outdoor events held was a threshing bee. All Pederson's wore red shirts to match their beautiful red barn! Everything was beautiful - the decorations, and even the weather.  Congratulations to the Pederson's on their marriage and for putting on such a fine event for everyone to enjoy.

Civic Club's Annual Steak Fry will be October 28th. from 5-8, with only 300 tickets being sold, costing $15 each. The proceeds from these ticket sales go to the Max-Garrison Ambulance to keep an ambulance in town and running, and to Civic Club projects like Santa Days, etc. There will be drawings for prizes during the Steak Fry, but you do need to be present to win!

Then on Sunday, November 5th the Catholic Church in Max will be having their Fall Festival Breakfast with a bake and craft sale. There are many other fall suppers being planned so please 'stay tuned'.
