Our sincere sympathy to the family of George Huettl. George passed away at the age of 85, leaving several children, 3 living nearby. Joyce and Susan live in Max and Ron lives in Minot. George is a longtime Max resident - an important man in the community - a gentlemen and a gentle man. We all will miss him!

The October meeting and potluck of the Max Senior Citizens will be held this Friday, October 12th. at the Senior Center on Main Street in Max. The potluck will be held at noon and the monthly meeting will start at 1:30. This is the winter schedule until March of 2008. Don't forget to bring in your money and ticket stubs from the sale of the raffle tickets!

The Little Hoppers Daycare is now open! Lots of spots to fill....5 part/full time and 2 before and/or after school. Please call Jessica at 679-2256 to get your child enrolled today. The school bus will pick up and drop off your school age kids!

Sunnyslope Homemakers was held on the 2nd. at Lorna Sambor's home in Max. For their program, several old Fabels were read, one of which was "The Boy Who Cried Wolf". There were 9 present, including several visitors. Several of the members who live in Minot were not able to come. The next homemakers meeting will be held at Marian Schmidt's in Max.

This Sunday, October 14 is Our Savior Lutheran Church's Annual Lutefisk and Meatball Dinner. Serving will be from 1 to 6 p.m. The Praise Band will play at 12:30. The youth will be having a bake sale too.

Then the next Sunday, October 21 is Immaculate Conception Church's Annual Knoephla Soup and Sandwich Luncheon. Serving there will be from 11a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a bake sale and the handmade quilt raffle.

The Max Civic Club Annual Steak Fry and Dance is being held on Saturday evening, October 27th at the Max Civic Center. Serving will be from 5 to 8 p.m. with the dance by the Nite Owls following. Only 300 tickets are being sold!

The Max Community Library Book Fair Week is just a month away! Have you reserved your table for the flea market and vendor fair? Lunch is being served by the Max Senior Citizens that Sunday, November 18th. and many come in following their church services. They will be looking for something to buy at 'your' table!
