The January monthly Seniors' meeting was well attended. A few of the upcoming events were discussed. The first one is this Sunday, January 21st with the Seniors' Christmas Party being held at the Max Senior Center. This is a potluck dinner, starting at 1:00. There will be a free will offering that will be used for the Center's expenses. You are invited to come on Sunday and bring a friend.
The yearly dues for 2007 Senior members are now $10. By raising the dues, it is hoped the Senior Center can remain open by having more to operate with. If you haven't joined, think about it. You won't regret it. There are presently 21 paid members for 2007.
Another fun event the Senior Citizens are planning at the center, is the 'hopefully first' annual St. Patrick's Day dinner. his is being held on March 17th. There will more information on that event.
And there will be the Older Americans' Day with a raffle and more fun. There will be more information later on.
DuWayne and Linda Haynes of Max and their daughter Kristin Haynes of Minot spent Christmas with their daughter, Lori, in Avondale, Arizona. They took in many fun and beautiful events, one of which was the musical "Christmas Carol" put on in the Herbergers Theater in downtown Phoenix.
They waited in a line of vehicles for several hours to view a Christmas lights display in Glendale, Arizona. If the lights used in this display were strung out, they would reach from Phoenix to Dallas, Texas! The display featured many scenes, including the North Pole, the Nativity, the Crucifixion, the three crosses, the tomb where the rock actually rolled away and Jesus appeared.
The four of them went to Mesa to have lunch with Bud and Gloria Henne of Max and with Linda's cousin Tammy and her husband Clay.
After lunch they went to Bud and Gloria's 'winter home'. Gloria has had the misfortune of breaking her knee and was at that time in a wheelchair. We wish Gloria a speedy recovery.
The Haynes family enjoyed visiting various malls and restaurants that North Dakota does not have.
This Sunday evening, January 21st, is the Y.M.C.A. Family Night for Max school students and families. This is being held from 6:30 to 8:30. There is also Volleyball at the Max School gym at 7 p.m. that evening.
