A long time Max area resident, Olga Henne, has passed away at the age of 99. Olga has lived in Minot the past few years but otherwise remained active living at the farm south of Max. Olga was a member of the Max Senior Citizens' Club and often came from Minot to attend the monthly potlucks and meetings. Olga's funeral will be tomorrow, Friday, February 16th at 11 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Max. We extend our sympathy to her family and friends.

The Senior Citizens' February potluck and meeting held this past Friday was very well attended. Alot of things are going on now - and the Max Senior Citizens' Club is going to grow!

One of the topics was the Meals on Wheels program Max is involved in. Max has meals served every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, at the Senior Center or delivered to your home. You do not need to be a member of the Senior Citizens' Club - you only need to be 60 years of age or older, and your spouse can be of any age. It does not matter what your income is, either. These meals are very complete with many saying they cannot eat the full meal. Your cost per meal is $3.75. There are alot of people in Max who qualify for these meals and could take advantage of them, whether you are able to come join the others at the Senior Center or if you want your meal delivered to your home. The more people who take advantage of this program, the more promising that Max will be able to keep the program. Don't wait until it is too late to decide to enjoy these meals. A lack of interest now and you may find they aren't available when you do need them or want them. No dishes to do - no cooking for one - oh so many reasons to take part in this program! All you need to do is phone the McLean Manor where the food is cooked, either the day before or by 8 a.m. on the day you want the meal. Please ask for Diane. You may also sign up at the Senior Center.

The Max Senior Center now has an automated external defibulator on hand in case of an emergency. Several went for training in January. You'll find the Senior Center to be a very enjoyable place to be, whether you are eating and staying on to put puzzles together or play cards, or just stopping in to do either and having a cup of coffee with the others. Give it a try

The Max Seniors will be having a St. Patrick's Dinner on St. Patrick's Day, March 17th. This will be held at the Civic Center and Irish food will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Anyone may purchase a ticket for only $7.50, from any 'senior' in Max. Children under 10 are to eat free. The 4-H Club is going to be helping serve and decorations will be everywhere!! It promises to be a fun time but you do need to get your ticket no later than March 9th. St. Patrick's Day Dinner on March 16th. from 5 - 7.

At the Seniors' March 9th. meeting, it will be decided on when to have the 2007 Christmas Dinner at the Center. If a date is chosen too late, one finds dates nearer to Christmas all filled up. So please check your schedule of events for some open dates and tell someone if you cannot be at that meeting. There are now 32 members so there should be 32 at each monthly meeting!

NOTICE: All winter monthly meetings at the Max Senior Center will start at 1:30 instead of the 2:00 time as reported before. There are many more events the Seniors are sponsoring, right into May, and as they draw closer, they will be described.

Did you see the new pop can out on the ice? Cut off date to buy tickets/guesses as to when it will plunge into the water, is March 17th at midnight.

"The only people you should ever want to get 'even' with are those who have helped you." John Honeyfeld
