There is much sadness in our little community with the loss of a resident, a past resident, and the father of a present resident. Robert Gross, 76, suffered a heart attack and accident north of Max on Friday morning. Robert's relatives living in Max are his wife and step-daughter, Dena Guenthner and family. Our sincere sympathy goes out to Robert's family. Robert and his wife live in the former Glenn Olson house.

Long time resident whose husband was in the bank in Max and both were very active in Max - having an avenue named after them - passed away on Saturday at her daughter's home in Minot. Ethel Jacobson, 88, is known to many in the community. Ethel's funeral was held on Wednesday in Minot. We want the family to know we all have loving thoughts of Ethel. We are so sorry.

Passing away on Saturday also, in Minot, was our own Karen Polsfut's father, 92 year old Edwin Marquardt of Bottineau. Many have heard Karen tell of him still putting up hay on the farm, in these later years of his life. Let's remember Karen and her family in our prayers.

Future events in Max pertain to food! This Sunday, February 25th., Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Max will be having a potluck dinner after the 11:00 Mass. There will be a free will offering, with the proceeds going toward John Gehring's school fund for the children in Iraq. It is a wonderful thing John is doing to provide these children with school supplies, as they have none, yet it takes money for postage to mail them.

Civic Club again - March 12th - but this time, if you take out membership or renew your old membership in Civic Club, you can take part in a free all-you-can-eat fish fry. This will be held at the Max Civic Center. Time will be mentioned later.

But before you enjoy this fish fry, you should have purchased your tickets to the Seniors' St. Patrick's Day Dinner that is being held at the Max Civic Center on Saturday, March 17th. from 5 to 7 p.m. These tickets are $7.50 each and children under 10 eat free, but you do need to purchase these tickets from any Senior member before March 9th. Matching funds provided by McLean County Thrivent.
