We congratulate Michelle and Matt Ragan on the birth of their daughter Katie Mackenzie on April first. Katie weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces and was 19 and 1/4 inches long. Katie has a three year old brother Trevor at home, just waiting to help Mommie take care of his little sister. Katie is the granddaughter of Jarvis and LaVonne Jungling of Max and of Marilyn Ragan and the late James Ragan of Bismarck. Great Grandmothers are Katie Jungling of Bismarck and Maxine Morthland of Monroe City, Missouri. Congratulations Michelle and Matt!

Ed. and Idamae Hauf spent the Easter holiday with their family. On Wednesday evening they were overnigiht guests with their son Steve, Tami and family at Sabin, MN. On Thursday they traveled to the home of their son, Jim at Maplewood, MN. where they attended the Passion Play presented at North Heights Lutheran Church in Roseville. On Friday they drove with Jim to Ankeny, IA where they were joined by their daughter Brenda and her husband Brian to enjoy being guests for the Easter week-end at the home of their son Darrin and his wife Shannon.
The April meeting of the Max Senior Citizens was very well attended with almost two dozen there to listen to Scott Foss from Garrison tell about Garrison's upcoming Meadows Assisted Living Center. This will be located on the east side of the Benedictine Living Center and they hope to have it ready for occupancy by the fall of 2008. You only need to be 55 or older to live there and you do not need to have medical needs. Contact Scott Foss at 463-2226 for more information - also at scott.foss@bhshealth.org .
During this meeting there was a request for more people to ride the Senior Bus if you need to go to Minot. They also reported the April 9th. County Council meeting held in Max had a very good turnout. The Region VII Regional Council meeting will be held May 10, 2007 in Bismarck. Call 258-9276 by May 9th. if you wish to attend.
The Max Senior Citizens will be having their Older Americans Day on May 12 from 10 to 4 p.m. Kyle's Greenhouse will be here with plants and all sorts of birdhouses will be for sale also, along with the Center's bake sale. Pie and coffee will be served. A representative from the McLean County Resource Center in Washburn will be on hand that day to answer any of your guestions about their food pantry or about their many other services.
Before all these events, you'll want to take in the Max Senior Citizens' 6:00 potluck on April 27th. at the Senior Center and their May meeting at 2:00 on May 11th. also held at the center.
This week-end has several events taking place with first off the Max Library's Story Hour being held tomorrow, Friday at 10:30 at the Library and then a Thrivent financial planning workshop for women is being held on Satuday April 21st. at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Max beginning at 1 p.m. Paula Meilke of Garrison will be the presenter. Everyone is welcome to attend the free workshop. Coffee and goodies will be served.
On Sunday there will be an open house for Lila Fannik's 80th. birthday, at the Max Senior Citizens' center. Special birthday blessings to our Lila!
Next Tuesday the Max City Election will be held at the Civic Center between the hours of 9 and 7 p.m. And spring is official when the school has their spring concert, this Thursday April 26th. at 7:30 at the Max Public School.
There will be a screening held for all 3,4, and 5 year olds (by August 31, 2006) at the school on May first between the hours of 9:30 and 2:30 p.m. This screening will consist of vision, hearing, developmental speech and language. Call the Max School at 679-2685 to schedule an appointment.
ANNOUNCEMENT: Max City-wide clean-up will be held this Saturday, the 21st., from 9 until noon.
