Max News 7-16-07

If you left news in the box in Bremer Bank, I'm sorry but I wasn't able to take it out today. I'll put it in next week. This week's news is pretty short but always interesting!

Brenda Reister of Waconia, MN. spent several days last week visiting at the home of her parents, Ed. and Idamae Hauf.

The July meeting of the Max Senior Citizens was very well attended this past Friday. It was brought to our attention that next Wednesday, July 25th. is Seniors Day at the State Fair being held in Minot. It wasn't definite if the 'bus' would be picking up passengers for this. Following the meeting and lunch, a very special person was waiting outside to visit with each and everyone of us. The group went outside and sung Happy Birthday to Max's own George Huettl. George will have his 85th. birthday this Wednesday, July 18th.

Have you noticed the new landscaping in the front of the Senior Center? Several volunteers worked very hard, on a very hot day, to bring it all together. Soon you will be able to sit and relax on the bench purchased with memorial monies. The names will be listed on the bench. Don't forget to sit on the beautiful bench in the new Centennial Park and enjoy the Main Street activity.

The next big event for the Max Seniors will be held on November 18, 2007 while the Max Library has its Library Days. The Seniors will be serving lunch in the Civic Center while the Craft and Flea Market sales are going on. At 3:00 on that day, the Seniors will be drawing names for their raffle prizes so if you haven't purchased a ticket or ten, you still have time to. These tickets are $1 each and are available from any Senior member, and are also available at the Bremer Bank and C-Store in Max; Tesoro, SunDollar Store and Sakakawea Gift Gallery in Garrison. Now here is the best part -- if you win - here is what you could take home!! A 20 inch flat screen t.v.; Wireless thermometer; Queen size comforter and sheet set; Cordless fillet knife; Coleman sleeping bag; 2 / $50 savings bonds, or $100 in Max bucks. Now don't you think those prizes are worth your time to purchase at least one $1.00 ticket!! You do not need to be present for the drawing, to win!

Next Friday, July 27th, the Senior Citizens' potluck will be held at the Senior Center at 6 p.m.

Reminder - the new library days now are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9:30 to 12 noon and 1:00 to 5:30 p.m.
