We extend our sincere sympathy to Roger and Grace Westman and all their children, in the loss of Roger's Mother, Selma Westman of Benedict. She was a strong lady and will definitely be missed.
On August 18th at the Surrey City Hall, former Maxites Gailord and Mabel Albertson celebrated their 50th. anniversary with friends and family. Only two of their family were unable to attend. Some of those attending from the area were Phyllis and Joanie Narum of Douglas, Margaret Scurlock, Lorna Sambor, and Lila Fannik from Max, along with many others too.
On August 21st many Seniors rode the West River Senior Bus to Medora to take in the Musical. Those riding from Max were Mary Lushenko along with her daughter Shirley and husband John Sizemore; Margaret Scurlock, Lila Fannik and Lorna Sambor. Phyllis Narum from Douglas also went with, along with Ellie Richmond from Ryder. They all returned home that evening, or should I say morning!
September 9th is coming and so are the Grandparents, parents, and many others. What are they coming to? To the Grandparents' Day Breakfast sponsored by the Max Civic Club. Serving of french toast and sausage will be from 9 to 1 on that Sunday and there will be special entertainment with the Max Karate students putting on a Karate demonstration at appoximately 12:15. A free will offering will be taken and this will be used to help defray the costs for the community calendar that you can pick up around town, and from your mailbox, all for free. All this will take place in the Max Civic Center on Main Street.
November 18th. is the Library's annual flea market, sponsored by the Max Public Library. Reserve your table by calling the Max Library. The Library will be having Library Week, from November 13th through the 18th, and will be having books and many other items to buy for gifts at the Flea Market - Christmas is coming fast! The Flea Market will run from 9:30 until 2:30, with set-up the evening before or before opening time on the 18th. At 3:00 the Max Senior Citizens will draw for the winners of their raffle - many expensive items will be won. Tickets for this raffle are still available and are still only one dollar each.
