Another correction! It has been announced that the Senior Citizen raffle drawings would be at 3:00 on November 18th., the Library's annual flea market day. The time is incorrect - the drawings will be at 2:00, with the flea market ending at 2:30. Reminder: Have you reserved your table or tables to set up at this Flea Market? You can e-mail the Max Library with your wishes - at maxlib@rtc.coop or phone them at 679-2263. The whole week prior will be Library Week with evening fun events going on. There will be more on those events as the time gets closer. Also, make out your Christmas gift list as there will be many books and other items for sale.

The Sunnyslope Homemakers Club met last week at the Farmers' Market in Oak Park. They then gathered at Homesteaders for lunch and a quick meeting. JoNell Samson was the hostess and her Mother, Elsie Reeves, was the guest. They had a good turn-out and everyone had a good time.

On September 11, 2007 there was something beautiful going on in Max. School Walk for Diabetes Fun Night was held from 3:15, with the last walker coming in about 8:30 - and it was getting dark! Each of the 39 participants received a gift bag, along a free bottle of water, compliments of Christian Johnson's Recycling. The 39 walked a total of 109 miles! The top walkers in the different groups were as follows: K-Grade 6, Cassidy Huesers 18 laps; Grades 7-12, Christian Johnson 11 laps; Adult, Julie Hoehl of Max 10 laps. Congratulations 'Walkers' !

There will be a write-up in the Max School newsletter about this walk too. Those may be found at the school, bank, and cafe in Max. Read what all our students have been doing - it is an interesting little paper. The kids do a very good job with it.

We can't recycle these items, but the school can, and for very good reasons. Our Family brand UPC labels; Campbell products - whole label; and Boxtops For Education you find on many items - just the Boxtops For Education box! Did I lose you? Anyway, you may take these items to the school, drop them into the Max News box at the bank and I'll make sure the school gets them, or put them into 'the' box at the Senior Center and again, I'll make sure they get to the school office. Oh yes, used ink cartridges are also wanted and do you know what all these items mean to the school? The school in turn receives money for educational material for programs that are available to them. Some of the money received is put into an account to be there when a new program comes available that the school would like to purchase for the education of the students. Let's get the young and old, the whole community involved in this, for Our School. Thankyou! If you have any questions, call the school office at 679-2685.

Did you see the very nice article in last week's McLean County Independent about our very own Pat and Steve Hannegref's granddaughter?

The Max Civic Club's Steak Fry will be held on October 27th and the tickets are on sale now at all Max Businesses.
