Congratulations to Stewart and Pamela Malling Gohring of New Salem, North Dakota, on the birth of their daughter, Catherine Jane. She was born on February 4th and weighed 8# 13 oz. and was 21" long. Catherine has Grandma Joyce Malling living in Max and Grandma Marie Gohring living in Dickey, North Dakota. Congratulations to all of Catherine's family.

We extend our sympathy to Holly and Allen Kersten of Max, in the loss of Holly's father, Daniel Hager. His funeral was Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Minot. We are so sorry, Holly and Allen.

On Sunday evening, March 2nd, there will be another Singspiration Service at the Max Baptist Church at 6:00. Simeon and Tammy Waddington and family of rural Douglas will take part in this service, also. There will be fellowship time after the service. The last Singspiration Service held at the Max Baptist Church was on February 3rd with a very good turn-out of 30 or more, despite it being Super Bowl Sunday. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed visiting during the fellowship so they lingered on! Come enjoy the March 2nd. Singspiration and fellowship!

Lila Fannik and the Waddington family held an hour long service at the Benedictine Living Center in Garrison this past week-end. They had a good turn out and enjoyed visiting with the area people living there now. Some of whom are Erna Hauf, Ella Whiting, Gene Zenz, Bud Carlson, Genevieve Walters, and possibly many others you may enjoy visiting with, and who would enjoy visiting with you. Don't be a stranger at the Nursing Homes!

Don't forget to purchase your ticket or tickets on the pop can Plunge. One day it melts in this state and the next we are in a deep freeze, so who knows when the pop can is thinking it will plunge!

The Max Centennial Cafe is now under new ownership - and the windows are covered! There will be a nice surprise awaiting you inside, when they open at 2:00 on February 25th. That day they open late due to last minute 'fixings' but will stay open until ten p.m. After that day, their operating hours will be from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m., Sunday through Saturday. Their phone number remains the same as before.

One new feature will be the "Farmer's Special" - or hunter's, fishermen's, or anyone! This will be a take-out meal, ready when you are. There will be freshly baked-on-site goodies - and quite a variety of them you may purchase in quantity or individually. Depending on how the remodeling goes, this bakery section may not be ready by the 25th. But it won't be long, so tell your mouth to start watering! You will find alot of unique ideas being incorporated into the menu. The decor will give you a homey feel, with fresh paint and new floors. Support the community's cafe! They are open to suggestions, once they are open. See you there!
