Tickets can be purchased at Max businesses. Tickets are $5 each and allow three guesses per ticket.

To mail in entries, send $5 per each three guesses to Max Community Enterprise, PO Box 203, Max, ND 58759-0203. Guesses should include the month, day, hour (including am or pm), and minute that the can is predicted to fall through the ice, as well as the name and contact information of the individual sending the entry.

How do we know when the can falls?

The Plunge can is outfitted with an electronic timer that stops immediately when it gets wet. Therefore, it doesn't matter if the can falls in the middle of the day or in the dead of night--the time will be exact.

The enormous pop can that has become a wintertime fixture on Elbow Lake along Highway 83 in Max is again ready to take a dive! The Max Plunge is Max's yearly guessing game that predicts when the specially-made jumbo can will fall through the ice. This year, the Max Plunge is being put on by Max Community Enterprises. Proceeds will go to support the projects of this organization.

2013 Plunge Winners

The Max Plunge ended at 12:54 pm on April 30th, 2013 when the jumbo can poised on the ice of Elbow Lake in Max fell through. This is the latest Plunge date in the history of the contest!

The top four winners in 2013 were:

1st: Edwin Schmidt of Max - $500
2nd: Michelle Welsh of Minot - $250
3rd: Kathy Stambaugh of Minot - $100
4th: Ande Semchenko of Sioux Falls, SD - $50

Proceeds from this year's Plunge will go to benefit the community programs of Max Community Enterprises.
